John explains that 30% of the windmills power is lost in the transmission from the blades to the generator. The maintenance on the Industrial Wind Turbine is huge, in Australia, repair cost equal what the total delivered price of conventional power. The large Industrial Wind Turbines are less efficient than the old small turbines. Add in that the subsides in production tax credit and the Fed pays 50% of the construction cost, then other subsides and its all paid by the taxpayer. All Avian work in harmony in the echo system but with windmills added to habitat it kills off Avian and then provides a purch for other rapitor & scavenger to kill off sage grouse and burrowing owl and other Avian. Then to top it off USFWS now sells a license to kill protected Eagles and other Avian, so windmills can kill legal and the Avian are on the decline. Bats 3 to 50 Billion Dollars is what bats save in insect control, and the windmills are killing thousands a year. And insecticide will have to replace what bats do for free in Eco System. I once thought windmills were great, but no more. The Sierra club and the wind industry won't admit it, but these things are killing a million birds and a million bats per year - and they require carbon to be burned 70% of the time because they are so inefficient. Graves is right about wind power's many faults, but he is wrong in denying climate change, which I have witnessed first had during many decades of northern travel. It is also very hard to understand why he appears to promote fracking for methane, which has a host of proven problems (including the fact that burning it creates CO2), but doesn't champion the use of nuclear power - the safest, cleanest, most efficient way to produce electricity.
