Randy Starewicz in his series Shelter Us, has created a lovely trilogy about animals that are waiting in rescue shelters to be adopted. The bittersweet story and charming graphics join to provide a truly heartwarming look at the world of such shelters. I was also impressed that the proceeds from the books will be given to local animal rescue centers, like the Humane Society of Munster. Children will certainly enjoy and be moved by the story, but on another level they will also be sensitized to the need for compassion for our fellow creatures. Well done!
